The answer is short-form videos. They are the key to your marketing strategy.
What are short-form videos?
So, what do we define as a short-form video? A short-form video can range from around 10 seconds up to 3 minutes depending on the platform. Instagram Reels allows up to 60 seconds, whereas TikTok allows up to 3 minutes of recording. You’ll notice much shorter videos though on both platforms. Videos have always been a preferred content type, outperforming other post types time and time again. And more than ever before, with the creation of Instagram Reels and TikTok, video marketing is more prevalent across social media platforms. But not just any video marketing, the key is short-form video marketing. Providing a small burst of entertainment or information in video format is what keeps audiences of today engaged. The attention-span of users seems to be growing smaller and smaller, so companies and users need to capitalize on that.
Examples of short-form video’s:
Why are they so powerful?
Video content is easier to remember among audiences. It has the ability to stick in viewer’s minds more. It also is easier to connect with. There is more of a sense of personality in video content than other forms of content. Authenticity and transparency is key to reaching your audience and it’s easier to convey your true self with video. You become more trust-worthy and genuine!
Video content promotes higher engagement. It has three times the chance of out-performing other content types. It also has a higher chance of being shared across social media platforms.
Tips to creating short-form videos?
- Stay up to date with current trends. See what other videos are currently popular. Take note of different sounds and songs others are using and what current skits are trending. Leverage the most successful types of video content. Create content that is similar to successful videos.
- Produce high-quality videos. Make sure your subject is in good lighting, make sure there are no distracting elements in the background. If you’re shooting with your phone, typically the camera on the back of your phone has the best quality.
- Optimize for the platform you’re sharing on. Don’t share Tik Tok content on Instagram for instance. Follow the trends of the platform you’re posting on. Use their fonts and designs. Use their trending sounds.
- Use a powerful headline. This should be something scroll-stopping - it’s the first thing viewers see as they’re scrolling so it needs to be powerful enough to get them to stop.
